Southern Sound Series Race 4
The ISLANDS RACE

Thursday, March 13:
Registration of $30 due to Race Chair.
Friday,
March 14:
Late registration of $35 will be taken at Gig Harbor
Yacht Club from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Beer, wine, and pop
will be available for purchase. Come watch a sailing
video and visit with your competition.
Saturday, March 15:

Post race party at GHYC
Join us
for this fun event that will take the fleet from outside
Gig Harbor to a temporary mark north of Blake Island
before returning to Gig Harbor. This is the final race
of the Southern Sound Series.
Moorage
is available at the public dock at Jerisich Park (below
the large U.S. flag) or the Tides Tavern. A limited
number of berths are available at Peninsula Yacht Basin
or Arabella’s Landing, and maybe other marinas within
Gig Harbor Bay.
EVENT
NOTES:
-
The
temporary mark at Blake Island shall be left
to PORT.
-
There may be an orange racing buoy (limiting
mark) anchored within 200 yards of the Southworth
ferry terminal. Any boat passing inside this
mark will be disqualified.

Protests
MUST be delivered IN PERSON to Race Chair Tom Mitchell
prior to 2 hours after the finish of the last yacht or
the expiration of the time limit. Please notify the
race committee of your intent to protest upon crossing
the finish line.
Post
race party
at Gig Harbor Yacht Club. We will again be serving FREE
food, salad, beer and pop for all race participants and
guests following the race. Race results and photos of
the day will be shown. Don’t miss this event!
Awards
for 1st,
2nd and 3rd place in each class
will be given out by GHYC. In addition, GHYC will award
a perpetual trophy, the Ringgold Cup, to the first boat
in any class which wins by the greatest corrected time
margin over the second boat in that class. Race results
will be posted on the Southern Sound Series web site as
soon as possible.

for participating in this event, I represent to the organizers that
my boat has liability insurance in effect. I acknowledge that the
decision to enter my boat and participate in the event is solely my
own, and I agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing, the
organizers, and the Notice of Race for this event; and I hold
harmless the Gig Harbor Yacht Club, its officers and members, and
the race committee with respect to any and all claims arising out of
the participation in this event. My vessel has a current PHRF
certificate or is participating as a member of a One-Design
Class (as recognized by the Southern Sound Council) and complies with all PIYA Category III safety requirements. |
